Hello!
I’m a PhD student in the Psychological Sciences department at the University of California Merced. I am supervised by Dr. Eric Walle, the director of the Interpersonal Development Laboratory.
My work focuses on Complex Social Emotions : Emotions that occur exclusively within the context of social relationships. Examples include jealousy that occurs within a triadic context where an individual’s relationship with a beloved is threatened by a rival, envy that occurs within a competitive unequal relationship and love that occurs in a positive, affiliative relationship. This category of emotions has profound implications for the self and others in social contexts, but is heavily underrepresented in affective science. Thus, my work focusses on building a framework explaining the expressions, experience, understanding, socialization and development of Complex Social Emotions.
